The sun has fallen from the sky And tears have filled my eyes All that's around me has gone dull An I’ve fallen into a lull There’s nothing here for you to see So go on and pass by me Cause I’m not one to follow Because I’ve long gone hollow I want the world around me To perceive that I am happy But mostly I want you to know Before it’s time for you to go

It’s midnight and I’m mourning Likely will be til the morning I know it’s a long wait But this burden is a heavy weight If I’m to survive this night I’ll need the strength of a knight Your whispers I can hear As if you were still here

There was once a time I would have written a bad rhyme About my divorce Dissing my wife of course But now I’m more mature An I’m past that manure So I’ll just say this We had good times I’ll miss Sometimes for us to mend Things must come to an end An although everything is spinning Every end is a new beginning

It’s a dark highway I walk alone In a place where the cold chills your bones There’s nothing ahead but the dark of night And the occasionally street light shining bright Down this road I’ve travelled far Well beyond the reach of any other cars But I know if I can get my mind just right The end of the road will finally come into sight It has been a long dark road Along which I have carried a heavy load Travelling through this the darkest of nights Awaiting the coming of the mornings light

Walking down a road so old It's lined with memories of gold From a long forgotten time When we were in our prime The memories make me smile Only for a short while Cause of the pain I feel From wounds that won't heal It was like time paused From the suffering i caused When I said we were over Whilst we lay amongst the clover Now those times of bliss Are what I truly miss As I begin to grow old Reminiscing on these memories of gold

All around us the fire burns Moving with the wind it turns An endless wall of searing flames That dance across the open plains Through smoke that chokes us all We will continue to stand tall Through the dark days and night We will keep up the fight We can save another house With every fire that we douse But we’ll always remember The day that it rained embers
